The brooch centring on a baroque cultured pearl of iridescent aubergine tint, encircled within lines of millegrain-set circular- and single-cut diamonds, and calibré-cut sapphires, to a similarly set pendant of ribbon design; the unmounted cushion-shaped diamond weighing 17.13 carats. Estimate 135,000 — 210,000 CHF

In April 1972, the cushion-shaped diamond weighing 17.13 carats was removed from the centre of the brooch and replaced with the cultured pearl, to make it a more suitable jewel for every-day wear. The original design for the modified brooch accompanies this lot.
