Sapphire and diamond necklace, 1940s. Photo courtesy Sotheby's Designed as a fringe of graduated mixed-cut sapphires and circular-cut diamonds, with scroll terminals and diamond-set back chain, length approximately 425mm.  Accompanied by three reports from the SSEF no 33744, 33745 and 33746, dated 4 May 1999, stating that the three sapphires weighing 1.21, 2.80 and 7.55 carats are of Ceylon origin, with no indications of thermal treatment. A blue and white rouleau vase, Kangxi. Photo courtesy Bonhams The cylindrical body vibrantly painted with two lobed square cartouches, two fan-shaped cartouches and two four-lobed cartouches, variously containing precious objects, mountain scenes and floral sprays, all surrounded by a densely foliate lotus scroll, the neck with decorative fretwork and ruyi-head bands beneath the lipped rim. 45.4cm (17 7/8in) high. Sold for £6,250 (€7,457) Provenance: an English private collection.
