The unusual vase of square form and divided into upper and lower panels on each of the four sides with thick aubergine enamel borders, each lower panel enamelled with two grisaille and pink butterflies surrounding a blue fritillary flower, the upper panels each with the continued fritillary stem issuing another flower and single iron-red butterfly, the stepped foot with enamelled turquoise panels, the cover with matching turquoise panels and a gilt bronze finial. 36.5cm (14 3/8in) high (2).
