The plate delicately enamelled in grisaille with gilt, red and blue enamel detailing depicting one ship with three masts broadside and another ship from the stern each flying Dutch flags, a small fishing boat sailing nearby, the background with a view of Cape Town nestled under a dramatic Table Mountain rising to the clouds, the scene surrounded by foliate garlands between cornucopia at the rim. 22.9cm (9in) diam.
