embroidered in knotted stitch with the lion emblem of the second rank, depicted standing on a rock emerging from turbulent waves scattered with emblems of the Eight Immortals, flanked by a peach tree and peony bush, surrounded by bats and auspicious clouds, one badge divided down the middle (2). Height 11 3/4 in., 29.8 cm; Width 12 in., 30.5 cm. Estimation 5,000 — 7,000 USD
A censor's badge, possibly from the same series as the present lot, was sold in Christie's Paris, 14th December 2011, lot 156.
