well carved as a large peach borne on a gnarled leafy branch extending up the sides, with five bats in flight among the Three Abundances, peach, pomegranate and the finger citron, the semi-translucent stone with white and russet inclusions. Length 6 3/4 in., 17 cm. Estimation 20,000 — 30,000 USD - Lot. Vendu 20,000 USD

The carving on this washer is filled with auspicious meanings. The five bats, known as wufu, represent the five blessings of longevity, wealth, health, love of virtue, and a peaceful death. The finger citron, peach, and pomegranate together from the motif of the Three Abundances: blessings, longevity, and sons.
