carved recumbent with its legs tucked underneath its scaly body, its lifted head detailed with a pair of horns, bulging eyes, flaring nostrils and long whiskers, the mouth issuing a stream of vapours supporting a bundle of books on its back, the stone of an even celadon tone with caramel-russet skin; 10.5cm., 4 1/8 in.
