PARIS - Directement inspirée par la célèbre armée de Xi’an, l’artiste française montante Prune Nourry présente sa propre armée de Terracotta Daughters. A la suite de son projet Holy Daughters en Inde, Prune Nourry s’intéresse aujourd’hui au déséquilibre démographique en Chine. Elle infiltre la culture locale et s’inspire des fameux Soldats de Terre Cuite, si symboliques, pour créer une armée de plus d’une centaine de Terracotta Daughters, grandeur nature. Après avoir été présentée dans sa totalité à Shanghai à la Galerie Magda Danysz cette oeuvre monumentale réalisée au cours d’une année passée en Chine investit la halle principale du CENTQUATRE-PARIS.

En atelier 5, un film d’introduction au projet Terracota Daughters sera projeté. Réalisé par l’artiste, il permet de mieux comprendre le projet dans son ensemble, de son aspect sociologique à la collaboration avec les artisans et à l'implication des petites filles, modèles des sculptures.

Née en 1985, Prune Nourry vit aux Etats-Unis, actuellement en résidence à l'Invisible Dog Art Center à Brooklyn.

Artiste plasticienne, elle explore la bioéthique au travers de la performance, de la vidéo et de la photographie. Elle se concentre particulièrement sur la sélection de l’enfant par la science : comment les nouvelles techniques de procréation assistée nous mènent vers une évolution artificielle de l’humain.

L’artiste étaye son travail par de nombreuses recherches et entretiens auprès de scientifiques. À visée anthropologique, son travail s’inscrit dans une démarche participative. Elle réalise également des interventions artistiques dans lesquelles elle met en scène son propos et entre en interaction avec le public.

Prune Nourry participe à de nombreuses expositions et performances en Asie, aux Etats-Unis et en Europe.

Les Terracotta Daughters étaient également exposées à la galerie Magda Danysz du 22 mars au 10 mai.

PARIS.- Directly inspired by the famous Xi’an army of soldiers, up-and-coming French artist Prune Nourry presents her own army of "Terracotta Daughters". Following on from her "Holy Daughters" project in India, Prune Nourry is now interested in the demographic imbalance in China. She infiltrated local culture and was inspired by the famous, and very symbolic, Terracotta Soldiers to create an army of more than one hundred life-size "Terracotta Daughters". Created during her year in China, the whole of this monumental installation was exhibited at the Magda Danysz Gallery in Shanghai, and is now being exhibited in the main room of the CENTQUATRE-PARIS. 

Born in 1985, Prune Nourry lives in the United States and is now on a residency at the Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn.

She is a multi-disciplinary artist who draws her inspiration from the themes that surround bioethics.

Through the humorous medical world she recreates in her performances, artworks and exhibition design, she brings attention to some of the preoccupying issues that arise from our fast growing scientific discoveries, in particular, artificial procreation.

The artist’s work is supported by a great deal of research and interviews with scientists. Her work takes an anthropological and participatory approach. She also gives artistic performances in which she stages her intentions and interacts with the public.

Prune Nourry takes part in numerous exhibitions and performances in Asia, the United States and Europe.

Terracotta Daughters were also exhibited at the Magda Danysz Gallery from 22 March to 10 May.
