carved in the form of an archaic bronze ewer yi, with a pedestal foot rising up to wide flaring sides and a channelled spout set opposite a loop handle, decorated around the exterior with a low-relief frieze of taotie mask against a finely carved leiwen ground, one side further decorated in openwork with a chilong clambering on the handle and resting its head on the rim, four further chilong clambering by its sides and two further chilong flanking the handle below, all between a key-fret band encircling the rim and the foot, the horn of a warm reddish-brown colour, wood stand
