well-painted in enamels of predominantly iron-red and green with yellow and turquoise depicting a scene of three scholars conversing and another of a monk reading a banner with an acolyte in attendance, divided by scrolling clouds, enclosed between a row of upright overlapping petals around the base and a row of lappets encircling the shoulder, Japanese wood box. Height 5 1/2  in., 14 cm
