potted with shallow rounded sides supported on a short splayed knife-pared foot, covered overall in an unctuous glossy black glaze evenly suffused with small silvery 'oil spots' of varying sizes stopping short of the foot, the body dressed with a black wash simulating Jian ware; 8.4 cm., 3 1/4  in.
