potted with flaring sides resting on a countersunk base, the exterior enamelled with an attendant holding out a scroll for a seated scholar writing with a brush, across a further seated figure, inscribed in black with an excerpt from Du Fu's poem Yin Zhong Ba Xian Ge ('The Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup') eulogising the calligraphy of Zhang Xu, terminating with a red seal mark, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark within a double-square.
