the deep rounded sides rising to an incurved rim with double fillets, covered overall in an opaque white slip, the exterior boldly carved with concentric U-shaped grooves filled with brown glaze, covered overall in a clear glaze leaving the foot unglazed revealing the grey body, Japanese wood box. Quantité: 2.

NoteCizhou bowl carved with concentric circles from the Moore Memorial collection in the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, was included in the exhibition Freedom of Clay and Brush through Seven Centuries in Northern China. Tz’u-chou Type Wares, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, 1980, cat. no. 12, where it is compared to a fragment from the Quhe kiln site in Dengfeng county, Henan province, fig. 21, and two bowls, one in the Charles B. Hoyt collection, fig. 22, and the other in the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, fig. 23.
