Note: The bowl is a classic example of the fine Dingyao products from the 12th to the 13th century. The shape and the décor were derived probably from metalwork. A wooden form served as a model for the bowls body. The difficulty for the potter was, however, to obtain the inner decoration in its exact representation. The design of the daylily flowers was extremely popular on Ding wares, so that the ornament can be found on various porcelain pieces. A similar dish in shape and decoration can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum (accession no. C.110-1939), in the Liaoning Provincial Museum, the National Palace Museum in Taipei as well as in the National Palace Museum in Hong Kong.
