well potted, the conical sides rising from a short foot to an indented rim, unctuously covered with a lustrous blackish-brown glaze finely streaked with russet 'hare's fur' markings, the glossy glaze falling short of the foot in a neat lustrous black bulge above the dark purple-brown body, the rim metal-bound, Japanese wood box (2).
