Literature: Ertz, Klaus: Josse de Momper the Younger (1564-1635), The paintings with a critical catalog raisonné, Freren 1986 Cat. No. 98, p 490, fig. P 489.
Notes: The painting offered here is a typical example of the late work of Joos de Momper and exemplifies his great artistic skill that perspective to make color. So the focus in shades of brown, the middle ground in green and the background is decorated in blue, making an impressive atmosphere is created, in which blend harmoniously the figures. Dr. Klaus Ertz suggests a dating of this painting at the end of the 1620s and believed that this landscape is in collaboration with Jan Brueghel d. J., who added the Figurenstaffage emerged (see literature). A comparable composition from the same time is located in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Nantes (see Ertz 1986 Cat. No. 97).
