A platinum, diamond, ruby, emerald and onyx bracelet would be the perfect accessory for this Grace Jones portrait, adding an extra sparkle to complement her metallic stilettos.
Francesco Scavullo (1921-2004), Grace Jones, gelatin silver print, signed and dated in ink on the image, mounted, 1979, printed later (Scavullo: 50 Years, p. 144); 40 1/4 by 30 in. (102.9 by 76.2 cm.). Estimate 3,000 — 5,000 USD. Photo: Sotheby's
Note: Scavullo captures Grace Jones’ immense personality in this large-scale gelatin silver print. 1979, the year this photograph was executed, marked the death of disco, forcing Jones to take on the cultural chameleon identity she is known for today. Just two years after her 1979 disco-doomed release Muse, she received the honor of NME Album of the Year for 1981’s new-wave infused Nightclubbing. (rocklistmusic.co.uk)
