An Imperial Coral-ground Wucai and Yangcai ‘Floral’ Bowl, Mark and Period of Kangxi, 1662–1722Estimate: HK$ 3,800,000 - 4,800,000 (US$ 487,200 - 615,400). Photo Poly Auction

This bowl with deep rounded sides rising from a splayed foot has an everted rim and a bunch of well painted flowers, like lily, peony, crab-apple and camellia, which are all enamelled in different colour. They curl together in an organized way and layered by the green feathery leaves against a rich coral red ground. The inner side and base are plain white while an unusual four-character mark in underglaze blue and double square is inscribed to the base, highlighting the importance and position of this bowl among other Imperial pieces. D 10.8 cm.
