A rare underglaze copper-red, blue and white three-part 'Immortals' wine ewer, Qianlong-Jiaqing period, circa 1800. Estimate £40,000 – £60,000 ($61,360 - $92,040). Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2015
The ewer is of double-gourd form with two moulded lion-mask handles to the lower section. The top section has a C-scroll handle and a upright S-scroll spout, the cover has a small bud finial. Both sections are decorated with the Eight Daoist Immortals, baxian on a ground of crashing waves. The lower tubular part of the top section is decorated with five bats amongst cloud scrolls. 7 5/8 in. (19.3 cm.) high
