The deep rounded sides rising to a slightly everted rim, painted to the interior with a central medallion depicting a striding prowling tiger through a rocky landscape, the sides further depicting various flowers in bloom issuing from rockwork, alternating with birds perched on branches. 

Provenance: a distinguished European private collection 

NoteCompare with a blue and white dish in the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, Shunzhi period, with a related tiger design, illustrated by S.Little, Chinese Ceramics of the Transitional Period: 1620-1683, New York, 1984, no.39.
