The bowl is well potted with rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim which is divided into six shallow lobes. The interior is fluidly incised with two chilong contesting a flaming pearl, the exterior with two large peony sprays with combed details. It is covered overall with a transparent glaze of pale blue tone with the exception of the centre of the base revealing the biscuit body. 7 3/4 in. (19.6 cm.) diam., box

NotesThe Qingbai bowls of this design are extremely rare. Compare to a slightly larger qingbai example with virtually identical design sold at Christie's New York, 21 March 2002, lot 148. Compare also a similar design illustrated in line drawing by J. Wirgin, Sung Ceramic Designs, London, 1979, fig. 12d.
