Covered box, Ming dynasty, c. 1450 - c. 1500
Covered box, Ming dynasty, c. 1450 - c. 1500, blue and white porcelain, h 7.5cm × d 13cm. AK-MAK-1331. On loan from the Vereniging van Vrienden der Aziatische Kunst, 1982. Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
Round box at foot ring and unglazed bottom. In the box a flat lid with a cup-shaped button of which the underside is not glazed, to the lid of the box on the inner side is also partly unglazed. Decorated in underglaze blue with the lid in the middle of a flower, it is surrounded by lotus leaves that are filled with flowers and wave patterns. On the wall, continuing to cover two records with fields filled with cloud motifs and flowering plants.
