Wucai box with a dignitary, servants and children playing on a terrace, Shunzhi period, c.1645-1660, porcelain, h 17cm × d 30.5cm. AK-NM-6376. Rijskmuseum, Amsterdam.

Box on thick foot ring and domed lid. Around the edge on the inside of the box and the lid a large , irregular and unglazed band. The exterior is decorated in underglaze blue and emails : iron red , three shades of green , yellow, black and aubergine. On the cover a performance containing a dignitary seated on a terrace with servants ; a kneeling man offers a role. Around the central representation in the middle of the lid and on the wall of the carton, a large number of children who perform a variety of activities and of which the faces are carried out in a very light red iron.
