Wucai square bottle, Shunzhi period, c

Wucai square bottle, Shunzhi period, c.1645-1660, porcelain, h 34cm × d 9cm × w 11.5cm × l 11.6cm. AK-RBK-1955-8. Rijskmuseum, Amsterdam. 

Square vase with flat, unglazed bottom. Straight walls , flat shoulders and wide, spreading neck. Decorated in underglaze blue and emails : three shades of green, iron red , black, yellow and aubergine. The four walls are painted with different scenes. The first wall shows an immortal on a crane with a group of bystanders pointing to him ; the second shows a goddess and her servant in a dream - cartouche appears in a scholar ; the third shows five ways in a landscape unrolling a scroll on which a yinyang symbol ; the latter shows an immortal in a qilin who is accompanied by two attendants . On the shoulder of the vase eight valuables ; around the neck three boys playing in a rocky landscape.
