This unique cross is a genuine symbol of episcopal eminence. Rectilinear in shape, it is made of crystal entirely cut into diamond point facets on the back, the front and along the edges. In 1717, the Bishop of Coimbra, D. António de Vasconcelos e Sousa, was buried with this pectoral cross.13 mars 2016

Of Italian influence, the pendant becomes the most popular piece of jewellery in the 16th century. This handsome example is composed of two articulated pieces: the upper segment is in the shape of a crown; the lower segment consists of a cameo in agate encircled by two concentric rings, the first of quadrangular rubies and the second of pierced plant scrolling enriched with gem work. This rare gold necklace, enriched by the contrasting colours of the precious stones, belonged to the bequest of the Queen, Saint Isabel. It consists of eight multi-lobed plates, linked by two parallel chains and accented by nine baroque pearls in groups of three.
