the rounded sides rising from a short tapering foot to an everted rim, painted to the interior with a medallion enclosing cranes in flight amidst ruyi clouds, the exterior similarly decorated with eight cranes in flight, the base inscribed with a four-character mark Wan fu you tong which may be translated as 'May infinite good fortune surround you'; 18.5 cm, 8 1/4 in.
