of cylindrical form, painted around the exterior with two rectangular panels, the larger depicting Daoist Immortals dancing on scrolling clouds with a scholar seated at a window in a pavilion, the other of a lakeside landscape with rocky mountains; 17.5 cm, 6 7/8 in.
Note: The scene depicts Lu Dongbin escorting White Peony across the clouds, who is being carried by the willow tree spirit. A famille-verte brushpot painted with the same subject was sold in our London rooms, 5th November 2008, lot 93.
