Lot 76. A pair of jun-style 'qilin' incense burners and covers, Late Qing Dynasty. Each 18cm (7 1/8in) high (6). Sold for £4,375 (€5,646). Photo Bonhams.

Each plump beast standing four square with a rotund body and separate head modelled with bulging eyes and a single horn, the mouth open with sets of sharp teeth, decorated overall with bright splashes of turquoise and purple enamels, wood stands. 

Provenance: a European private collection, and thence by descent
