rising from a slightly splayed foot to an incurved rim, molded to the center of the interior with a turtle, covered overall with a smooth gray-green glaze thinning to a pale mushroom brown at the rim and foot, with three white clay spur marks adhered to the foot

Notes: A very similar bowl with a molded animal to the interior was included in the exhibition, The Masterpieces of Yaozhou Ware, The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, 1997, cat. no. 15. A bowl of similar glaze and form, without the molded decoration is illustrated in Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, vol. 1, London, 1994, pl. 403; and another formerly in the Eugene Bernat collection, was sold in these rooms, 7th November 1980, lot 141.
