An unusual ruby-pink-enameled deep bowl, 18th century

The bowl has deep, rounded sides that flare towards the gilt rim and is covered inside and out with an enamel of soft crushed-strawberry-red color. 4 1/8 in. (10.4 cm.) high.
Provenance: Mary Clark Thompson (1835-1923) Collection.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, accessioned in 1923.
