Lot 969. A reverse-decorated blue and white 'dragon' dish, Qianlong six-character seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period (1736-1795). Estimate USD 8,000 - USD 12,000.  Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2016.

The dish has rounded sides rising to a slightly everted rim, and is decorated in the center with a five-clawed dragon writhing amidst crashing waves. The reverse is decorated with nine dragons writhing amidst waves beneath a band of demi-florettes. 6 7/8 in. (17.4 cm.) diam.
