with a flared rim, covered overall with a black glaze, thinning at the rim with russet streaks extending downwards, the glaze falling short of the foot to reveal the buff-brown stoneware body, the base incised with a two-character tribute mark reading gongyu - 13 cm., 5 1/8 in.
