sturdily potted, carved to the interior with a scholar's rock issuing plantain leaves in front of a low fence, surrounded by scrolling flower blossoms at the cavetto and crashing waves at the rim, the underside similarly decorated, covered overall with an olive-green glaze, save for an unglazed ring to the base burnt orange in firing, Japanese wood box - 43 cm, 16 7/8 in.
