This piece represents the happy return of Dionysius from India, a place he conquered to prove himself to the other gods of the Olympus.
From left to right: a young satyr with a lagobolon (hunter’s stick) and Pan looking at another satyr. Verso, the head of an elephant and a Bacchante. Below, the legs of an animal in full gallop
Provenance: The Ball, Dunster, Minehead, Somerset, where it was kept in a shed in the garden; acquired with the property by C. F. Johns circa 1975 and placed in his residence in the West Country.

The child Horus sits with his feet on a footstool bearing his name 'Hor-pa-khered', holding his right forefinger to his mouth. The finely-modelled face with large eyes is partially overlaid with silver. He wears a crown of Amun with uraeus and a necklace with two tear-shaped pendants in front and lotus or papyrus flowers and petal-shaped ornaments on the back

Juvenile face with idealized features, high cheekbones, finely drawn eyes and delicately indicated upper eyelids; large, slightly marked eyebrows, a broken nose, fine straight mouth, realistic ears and small chin.
