The sides of the deep rounded bowl rise to an indentation before the silver-bound rim. The bowl is covered with a black glaze streaked with russet markings ending in a thick line with droplets above the foot to expose the dark greyish-brown stoneware body, Japanese wood box.

ProvenanceIn the collection of a Japanese nobleman durign the Edo Period (1603-1868) (according to the inscription on the box).
