Il est représenté assis sur son lion, sa main gauche tenait à l'origine son attribut. Il porte une écharpe ondulée laissant apparaitre son torse nu et une jupe souple nouée à la taille . Les yeux sont mi-clos, son visage est empreint d'une expression sereine et bienveillante; petite restauration..

Provenance: French private collection, given by the French industrialist Jean Davray (1914-1985) to the present owner as a gift.

Note: A similar Longquan celadon figure of Puxian riding an elephant is illustrated by J. Harrison-Hall in Catalogue of Late Yuan and Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, London, 2001, p. 501, no. 16:97, where it is dated c. 1368-1450, and where another in the Victoria and Albert Museum is mentioned.
