rectangular jadeite case with platinum diamond-set mounts, overlaid with ruby, diamond and onyx flowers and foliage in chinoiserie style, with diamond-set onyx clasp.
Accompanied by report no. KJ 98267 dated 23/05/2018 from The Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory stating that the box is natural colour jadeite jade without any resin.
Note: Leopoldo Janesich opened his first jewellery and silverware shop in Trieste in 1835. By the early twentieth century, the firm was selling from Paris, London and Monte Carlo to an international clientele that recognised the name as pre-eminent makers of jewellery and compacts. Strauss, Allard et Meyer, Place des Vosges, were one of the most successful of the Parisian Art Deco workshops, specialising in vanity cases, many of which were in the 'chinoiserie style', commissioned by such firms as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier and Lacloche.
