The circular box and cover decorated in gold, black and red hiramaki-e and takamaki-eand inlaid in carved ivory, stained ivory, coral, pewter, silver and mother-of-pearl with a pavillion in a rocky landscape with a waterfall and ducks, small mother-of-pearl sliding doors opening to reveal two Chinese figures, the interior of the box in dense nashiji, the reverse with a ho-o bird and a sho on a red lacquer table, now mounted with externalhimotoshi as an inro.
