The sides of the deep jar are carved in imitation of basketwork below a band of florets applied below the rim, and the cover is similarly carved below the flower head handle. Both are covered with a blackish-brown glaze that thins to russet on the raised areas and is repeated on the underside of the cover and as a thin wash on the interior of the jar.
