the rounded sides rising from a short foot to an everted barbed rim, the slightly recessed central medallion freely carved with a landscape scene detailed with tall pine trees, encircled by stylised floral sprays at the well and repeated on the exterior, the rim bordered by a scrolling foliage pattern, covered overall in a thick celadon glaze leaving a ring on the underside burnt buff-orange during firing, the foot inscribed in Arabic script (Sultan Sulaiman Shikoh, 1635 – 1662).
Provenance: Acquired by the family of the present owner during the early 20th century.
