The brush pot is decorated to the exterior with a tranquil scene of two scholars and their attendant carrying a qin, beside a fisherman in a boat on a river, surrounded by a mountainous landscape and pavilions. The base is painted with an apocryphal Jiajing mark.
Provenance: Collection of the late Soame Jenyns (1904-1976), then by descent within the family
