The slightly dished, canted top carved through the white slip with a large peony blossom borne on a leafy stem that surrounds the flower, reserved on a punched ground, covered overall with a glaze of ivory tone that falls to the foot.
Provenance: Acquired by Walter Hochstadter prior to 1997 and gifted to Alice Chu, Mr. Hochstadter's companion in Australia, and thence by descent to the present owner.
