the long slightly curved metal blade cast with double grooves on both sides tapering to a pointed tip, a band of tear-drops cast along the spine of the blade leading to the tip, one end of the blade cast with a gilt-bronze panel enclosing a dragon in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl' amidst floral scrolls, the pierced gilt-metal sword guard decorated with stylised flowers and scrolling stems inlaid with coral stones, the stingray skin wrapped hilt surmounted by a gilt-metal pommel, the wooden scabbard later covered in black fabric with gilt-metal floral bands, forming the locket, chape and suspension brackets.
