PARIS - Découvert à Paris au Petit Palais en 1987 puis à Orsay en 1997, Hammershøi fascine par ses peintures représentant, dans des gammes de gris et de blanc, des intérieurs vides et subtils où figurent parfois la silhouette d’une femme de dos. Potted with shallow curved sides supported on a short foot, the interior finely and freely incised with a medallion enclosing a leafy lotus spray, encircled by six lines radiating outwards towards the notched metal-bound rim, covered overall with an ivory-white glaze.
