The dish is decorated in the center with a medallion enclosing a writhing iron-red dragon on an underglaze blue ground of cresting waves, the exterior with nine further iron-red dragons on a similar ground below a band of florettes. Together with a blue and white 'dragon' bowl, Qianlong six-character seal mark and probably of the period, decorated on the exterior in rich shades of underglaze blue with two five-clawed dragons striding amidst clouds, the interior with a central medallion of a leaping dragon.
