A copper-red-decorated yuhuchunping, Yuan dynasty (1279-1368)

The pear-shaped body is painted in underglaze red with two leafy peony stems below a band of three upright petals enclosing scrolls, all between line borders, and under a blue-green-toned glaze.

Note: A similarly decorated yuhuchunping of the same size, dated Yuan dynasty, ca. first half 14th century, is in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and illustrated by Suzanne G. Valenstein in A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics, New York, 1989 ed., p. 135, no. 13.
