The bowl, of ogee form, is decorated on the exterior with two five-clawed dragons racing amidst clouds and separated by cruciform clouds, and the bottom of the interior is decorated with a roundel of a dragon leaping amidst flames. The dish, with rounded sides that rise to a slightly everted rim, is decorated on the interior with two stylized phoenixes with spread wings grasping a small sprig in their beaks shown amidst clouds, and on the exterior with two further phoenixes with trailing tail feathers in flight between clouds.
