The long, tapering blade has beveled edges and a distinct median ridge. The diamond-shaped guard, the hilt with two circular flanges, and the circular, dished pommel, are each decorated with taotie masks and gold-inlaid bird scroll. The bronze has extensive malachite-green encrustation.

Note: A bronze sword dated to the early Warring States period with similar gold-inlaid designs on the guard and pommel was sold at Christie's New York, 21-22 March 2013, lot 1229.
