A flambé-glazed vase, 18th century

The heavily potted vase is covered overall with a glaze of dark raspberry color streaked with milky purple and blue and thinning to mushroom at the mouth rim. The base is covered with a thin brownish wash and the foot ring is unglazed.
Provenance: Kate Sturges Buckingham (1858–1937) Collection, Chicago, before 1925.
The Art Institute of Chicago, accessioned as the Collection of Lucy Maud Buckingham (1870-1920) in 1925.
