the pear-shaped body rising to a slender neck, supported on a slightly splayed foot, with a deep-red glaze applied to the exterior, stopping evenly at the foot, the interior and recessed base glazed white.

Note: Compare a Tongzhi mark and period copper-red vase, with a flared mouth and splayed foot, in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum. Monochrome Porcelain, Hong Kong, 1999, pl. 27. A Yongzheng mark and period vase in The Zhuyuetang Collection, its shape similar to the present example, is illustrated in Shimmering Colours, Hong Kong, 2005, pl. 41, p. 103. Another Yongzheng copper-red bottle vase was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 26th November 1980, lot 333.
